Battery Law

Notes on the obligation to take back and return batteries

Batteries and rechargeable batteries of all types, shapes and sizes must not be disposed of with household waste! As a consumer, you are legally obliged to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries.

Batteries and rechargeable batteries contain harmful substances which, if not disposed of properly, can have a serious impact on our environment and our health. They are therefore marked with the symbol of a crossed-out dustbin
(see below). They also contain important raw materials (metals such as iron, zinc, manganese or nickel) that can be recovered and reused through recycling.

In accordance with the law on the placing on the market, return and environmentally sound disposal of batteries and accumulators (Battery Act - BattG of 25.06.2009, BGBl. I p. 1582), we as a retailer are obliged to take back the rechargeable batteries we sell. We collect returned batteries and hand them over to the GRS Batterien foundation for proper disposal.

You are welcome to return used batteries to us free of charge.
Please send them together with a short note (e.g. “For disposal”) to:

ENERdan GmbH
Max-Planck-Str. 7
12489 Berlin
Berlin, Germany

Of course, you can also hand in the used rechargeable batteries and batteries at all local collection points of the GRS foundation (Gemeinsames Rücknahmesystem Batterien) and recycling centers. You can also find more information on this topic here: www.grs-batterien.de
